A structured settlement is an agreement with a loan company be it a bank of a private financing company or even an insurance company. These can be paid over an agreed time period and a settlement can rise from different insurance plans or because of a tort claim from an injured policy holder. These can also be a compromise between the company and the policy holder where the holder could receive a lump sum of money instead of getting the payments on installments for a certain length of time.
Whatever the case may be, the structured settlement can be a good investment, problem is, and a lot of individuals need the lump sum at an earlier period rather than in a later period. This is not surprising as a lot of people are today in financial difficulties due to the economic crash or depression. Unfortunately, most of the received monies will be used up to pay up for more debts like medical or hospital bills. It is quite easy to sell the structured settlement in case one needs funds immediately. Whatever company or whoever the creditor is who buys the settlement, the fact that they can provide the money immediately is welcome relief.
The only thing is, the money received from the sale will be less than the amount of the original loan. Also, there are factoring companies who may charge up to 15% on the total of the sale. Once the sale is done, the money equivalent to the factoring company's fees will have to be given up immediately. The choice is really simple, if there are debts that need to be paid, like medical bills, then there is a need for immediate cash, the cash can be received from the sale of the structured settlement. Even if the cash received is less than the real total, it is still worth it to sell.
The important thing is that the lump sum will be received; it is now up to the borrower to pay the buyer or the holder of the settlement. The holder or the creditor will see this as a good investment also. Not only can they receive monthly payments from the payee, but once it matures, whatever is earned will go to them as they are now considered the holder of the policy.
